University Hospital Colentina

University Hospital Colentina (SCC) was founded in 1858 as a medical and surgical hospital. Since the beginning it was a university hospital affiliated to the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila” in Bucharest.

SCC has a longstanding tradition in clinical research; one of the longest follow up of a cohort in Romania was organised in SCC (Aspects of epidemiology of atherosclerosis in our country. N G Lupu, M Steinbach. Fiziol Norm Patol, 1965). SCC is the beneficiary of a project co-financed by the European Fund of Regional Development through which the clinical research infrastructure was modernised. SCC is a multidisciplinary hospital with 18 medical and surgical specialties, combining medical teaching for undergraduate, doctoral and post-doctoral students with medical research.
